Use of Funds: The project aims to generate income for the unemployed young women who have to provide for their families. They have had little schooling and no training.The funds would be used to purchase six manual sewing machines, a designing machine, two knitting machines and cloth and other training materials, plus salary of a teacher for six months (US$600). The machinery would be housed in the group training hall (provided by the requesting group) which has space for trainees and the display of project products such as clothes, knitted garments, school uniforms, women’s wear. There is a ready market within the community (schools, hospitals, etc.). They will also run a repair service.The beneficiaries, once they have experience, will then train other young women. This will reduce the expenditure on hired trainers. Beneficiaries will also be provided with adult literacy classes, and the training hall will be also be used for meetings of the young women.Adults and other community members who request training will pay a fee, which will go towards running expenses. Beneficiaries will be paid a proportion of the repair service charges.
