IND/02/140 - Goat Rearing Project for Women

Objective: To assist 30 Dalit women by purchasing 150 she goats and 30 he goats for them to raise and thereby achieve a means of livelihood.

Background: The project plan was initiated by the WORD project team in discussion with the target population. The target population are from the lowest caste, Dalit, and if they are able to find work it is as agricultural labourers. The area is one of high percentage

Use of Funds: The funds from the 1% Fund would be used for the purchase of the goats (195000 rupees) and for training (4,500 rupees) The women will each contribute two of the young goats after the second year for the improvement of others in the community.
